Jenny's Technology Page

Today we are learning about Wikis. A Wiki is a collaborative site. It will be a quick way for us to post what we have learned during our PDP sessions. One new idea I learned to integrate into my classroom will be to use a continuing story. Students are taught new vocabulary words and then they create an adventure story by each student adding on to the story. Students
can also keep an ongoing summary of a novel they may be reading. Each student can me motivated and learn from each other.
We also created an account for the school fusion site. We entered our educational philosophy and our educational profile. We watched a short smart board presentation on the school fusion site and explored on our own.

We explored Wiki Resources and were shown how to link a site to our Fusion Page. We also merged our subject pages into one page on our School Fusion page.

We learned the steps how to upgrade our subscription to the free educational status.
We revised our School Fusion Page. We added events to the calendar and explored the editing tools that can be used with
the calendar. We added our classroom schedule and homework section. I also added a link for parents/students to practice
math skills. We practiced desiging our pages and edited with different arrangements.

We learned/reviewed/practiced how to use the SMART board tools. Molly also showed us how to use a document camera.
We also explored the Smart Tech. Website.

We learned about digital citizenship and Marcia walked us throgh some new sites that she added to our resource page. We attended a seminar on MyON books. It is an access to high-quality books online. Reading scaffolds. It can be accessed anywhere over the internet. Reports and quizzes are included. You have the ability to assign book lists to students. Students read and rate books on line. It seems like it will be a great resource to use with struggling students.
